Welcome to the Smart Plant Spacing Calculator! 🌱

Are you planning your very first backyard veggie garden or upgrading your raised beds, but have no idea how many plants you actually need to buy? You are not alone!

One of the biggest mistakes we make as beginner gardeners is crowding our plants too close together (which starves them of sunlight and nutrients) or planting them too far apart (which wastes precious garden space).

This tool is designed to take away all the guessing games. Whether you are planting juicy tomatoes, fresh lettuce, or sweet strawberries, our calculator tells you exactly how many plants will perfectly fit your space in just three simple clicks. No math degrees or gardening experience required!

🔍 How to Use It (In 3 Simple Steps):

  • Step 1: Pick Your Plant 🍅

Don't know how much space a zucchini needs compared to a carrot? No problem! Simply select what you want to grow from our dropdown list, and the calculator will automatically look up the perfect, scientifically approved distance for that plant. (If your plant isn't on the list, just select "Custom Spacing" and type in the inches/cm listed on your seed packet!)

  • Step 2: Choose Your Units 📏

Whether you like to measure in Feet/Inches (Imperial) or Meters/Centimeters (Metric), we’ve got you covered. Just tap the button to switch to your favorite unit.

  • Step 3: Enter Your Garden Size 📐

Type in the length and width of your garden bed or backyard plot.

💡 The Magic Behind the Results: Standard vs. Triangular

Once you type in your dimensions, you'll instantly see two different numbers:

  1. Grid Layout (Standard): This shows you how many plants you can fit if you plant them in traditional, straight rows and columns (like a checkerboard).

  2. Triangular Layout (Our Secret Weapon! 🔥): This organizes your plants in a staggered, zigzag pattern. Because it fits the rows together tighter like a puzzle, it often lets you grow up to 15% more plants in the exact same footprint!

As a bonus, the calculator will even tell you exactly how many bags of soil you need to buy at the bottom.

Give it a spin below, plan your dream layout, and let’s get growing!
